HIGH DRIVE – BEAR CREEK LOOP, North Cheyenne Cañon, COS. Trailhead: the small adhoc parking area about 300 yards south of the Section 16 Trailhead on Gold Camp Rd, on the other side of the road (coordinates: 38.8218306, -104.8908389). Hike start time: 9:30 AM. Hike length 6.5 mi, elev gain 1,800 ft, highest altitude 8,000 ft. Moderate. From the parking area, we head south on High Drive, then up to the saddle separating the Bear Creek and North Cheyenne Cañon drainages. We then head west on Captain Jack’s trail, passing by Mount Buckhorn. We then continue down a small NFS trail that takes us back to Bear Creek, then High Drive, then back to cars. No dogs.
